THE IROKP LYLY WELLNESS, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND TRAUMA RETREAT, AN INITIATIVE BY THE NIGERIAN FEMINIST FORUM (NFF)

The Nigerian Feminist Forum (NFF) Iroko Lily Wellness, Psychosocial, and Trauma Retreat provided a transformative experience for young and old feminists. The retreat offered a warm, relaxed, and rich tapestry of new knowledge, encompassing self-care techniques, psychosocial support mechanisms, and strategies for dealing with trauma. The diverse sessions and workshops offered a holistic wellness approach, addressing individual and collective needs.

In her words, the Executive Director of GWHREI said, she is committed to integrating these practices into daily life, including mindfulness techniques, prioritizing mental health, self-care, and self-love, and fostering a supportive environment within our activist circles. The retreat has empowered the author to recognize the importance of self-care as an integral part of sustaining long-term engagement in feminist and advocacy work.

She further asserted that she will encourage other feminists to prioritize self-care, as it is deeply intertwined with their collective strength as activists. By embracing self-care, we nurture ourselves and contribute to the resilience and effectiveness of the feminist movement as a whole. I am inspired to share their experiences and insights with fellow feminists, advocating for a culture that values and prioritizes the wellness of those tirelessly working for social change according to her.
